Keys to Believing
Part 1
If we have the mindset that says "some get healed and some don't", it does not help our faith to wholly believe what God did for us on the cross. We cannot mix our faith, with "maybe so, maybe yes, maybe no". It must be simply faith, without any doubt. Complete trust in who Jesus is and the power to heal is absolute. His death on the cross includes our healing. (Mathew 8:17, Isaiah 53:4,5). It's not just for some people. It was for all of us. No one is left out if they are willing to receive. The answer isn't always the way we thought the healing would come about but God has made provision for our healing through the finished work on the cross. Scripture is living and breathing. It's not just a history book. 2 Timothy 3:16 says All Scripture is GOD- BREATHED and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, This means that the Word of God is living and active according to Hebrews 4:12 - In addition, scripture tells us that whatever we speak, life and death also comes forth from the power of our tongue (Proverbs 18:21) All of these facts come from the Word of God.
- The Word (JESUS) was made flesh (John 1:14)
- The Word was with God (John 1:1 )
- The Word was God (John 1:1)
- All scripture is "God-breathed" (2 Timothy 3:16)
- The Word of God is living and active (Hebrews 4:12)
- Faith comes by hearing the Word of God (Romans 10:17)
- Speaking the power of God's Word on your tongue brings life (Proverbs 18:21)
Study the context of any of these scriptures and you will see the nature, the will and character of God displayed. They also demonstrate how his dominion is over the elements of this earthly realm and all that is bound in it. This includes sickness and disease because he bore our stripes and was nailed to the cross for our sins and diseases (Matthew 8:14-16). Nothing escapes him but since the fall of man, the door has been opened to the suffering we face on the earth today. Jesus is the Living Word and through him we have the authority and tools as Children of God, to be the overcomer he has called us to be.
Jesus prayed, "Thy kingdom COME, thy will be done, AS IT IS in heaven" (Matthew 6:10). Every time Jesus healed someone, or did a miracle, he revealed the kingdom of heaven, he revealed himself, and now to the Apostles and believers, the Church, he said "Greater things will you do in my name" (John 14:12). Ephesians 2:6 says that we are seated in heavenly places with him. This is not an earthly position but a heavenly one. It's of the Kingdom of heaven, accessible in this earthly realm. This scripture describes our spiritual status of our lives here on earth. It is our level of authority and power that we have attained through fellowship with Christ. Therefore, seated in the "heavenly places" describes the communion that we have with Christ and the exalted position of spiritual authority through him, that we have NOW.
Connect the dots in scripture, not just a few scripture in context, but the whole story, the whole book, and you'll see, the Church has been called to pray what Jesus taught us to pray. Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, ON EARTH, AS IT IS IN HEAVEN. Usher in heaven, on earth, to reveal his glory on the earth, through his Church, his Eklesia.
So, when you have been trying to believe for something and there's no budging.... When it seems your faith isn't working for you.... When it seems that God is far away, or as though he's not listening, or you feel as though you are hanging on by a thread, remember this. . . . It's not that you don't have enough faith. The size of a mustard seed is all Jesus said that you need. However, it's how you USE your faith, that changes the Father's response.
Hebrews 11:6 says, And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
So activate your faith. Seek him! Let the Kingdom of heaven invade you and your world. Activate your faith through the living Word of God. Believe his Word and speak it on your tongue declaring the promises in his Word. Nothing is greater that the power of God, living and active in your life, and on your tongue when we pray. God does not lie. He cannot ignore his own Words, the promises found in scripture and he is faithful to fulfill them.
